Alyce Gowdy Wright

Executive Director

After worker solidarity activism in college with Boston garment workers and campus service workers, she took a position at the Unitarian Universalist Washington Office, part of a progressive network of religious offices dealing with economic justice.

She then moved to North Carolina for nearly 8 years where she worked for NCOSH [North Carolina Occupational Safety and Health Project]. It was here that she was a founder of the African American/Latin@ Workers Alliance and started IUE-CWA Local 188, the region’s first non-profit employees’ union.

Alyce came to Miami in January 2004 and transitioned the organization from a labor support network to a democratically-led campaign initiator.
