Vecinos Unidos Little Havana Residents Committe

Public Good from Public Money press conference July 22 2008

We are more determined (it is urgent) to make the city of Miami and Miami-Dade county accountable to residents through a Community Benefits Agreement for the Marlins stadium project.

During the month of August Vecinos Unidos and other JwJ coalition members have met with the Mayor Alvarez's office and Javier Soto, the Marlins lead negotiator in the stadium construction project.

South Florida Jobs with Justice created a coalition with the goal of strengthening the local economy with responsible development, fair employment and civic engagement.

As part of our coalition, Vecinos Unidos was created as the space for local residents and community activists from Latino neighborhoods in Miami Dade, mostly from Little Havana and Allapattah, to lead the fight for accountable development and promote civic engagement amongst communities that are often left behind.
