SFJwJ Wins Requirements on $1.2 Billion Stadium

For two years the ‘Public Good from Public Money' coalition of local minority contractors, Little Havana residents and labor unions worked to get concrete benefits from the taxpayer financed Marlins' Stadium.

Working Women's Leadership Program

Congratulations to all the sisters who completed the Working Women's Leadership Training Program! What an amazing group of activists! Bus drivers, mechanics, solid waste employees, nurses, hospitality workers and train engineers converged every week for six weeks of community building and political education. Plans are already underway for a reunion BBQ, a teen training and CLUW fundraiser. For information, contact South Florida CLUW President Tanaka Charles at soflacluw16@yahoo.com.

Fairness in Flowers

Thanks to the 21 individuals and 8 organizations standing in solidarity with flower workers on strike in Colombia! To date $1,120 has been donated to Untraflores members. We are still gathering donations at 1671 NW 16th Terrace, Miami, FL 33125.

Vecinos Unidos

Vecinos Unidos is currently working on two fronts: Mobile Home Council and Residents Committee. The Mobile Home Council, the first in the state, with more than 120 members from 15 mobile homes parks has been active since July 2007. We are confident that in building Vecinos Unidos we are developing a model for community and labor action.
